GUFERO® sponge sealing cords are cords manufactured from lightweight (microporous) rubber. The diameter of the sponge sealing cord is expressed by the diameter of the cord in mm. Extruded sealing cords are where necessary soft, pliable and elastic, and have a relatively low weight even with large diameters. Sponge sealing cords are designed for operating temperatures from -30 °C up to +80 °C. GUFERO® sponge sealing cords are very reliable in applications where it is not possible to use sealing cords made of compact rubber. The profiles on offer are supplied in original packages. Smaller quantities (by the meter) are available from our warehouse stock upon request.
Sponge rubber made of EPDM (ethylene propylene monomer) is characterized by its closed cavities (pores). Hence the name microporous rubber. Sponge rubber is airtight and soaks up little water. These properties of sponge rubber are the prerequisites for the effective use of this type of seal. Sponge rubber can be used within the temperature range of -40 to +80 °C. Sponge rubber is resistant to weathering and some chemical substances. The use of sponge rubber is not suitable for petrol, oil and other solvents. Sponge rubber usually achieves a hardness of 20 ShA.
Sponge rubber with an adhesive layer is designed for use in the thermal insulation of doors, windows and garage doors. The adhesive tape on the sponge cord is covered with a protective tape so that any potential damage to the adhesive due to contamination is eliminated.
Cords of microporous rubber are packed and shipped in rolls, balls or on pallets. In our GUFERO order system you can buy any quantity of microporous rubber in various sizes. We have the majority of the sponge rubber cord products in all dimensions in sufficient quantities (thousands of metres) in stock. There are therefore no long lead times. Sponge rubber cords are dispatched from our warehouse within 24 hours as of the conclusion of the order.
Provided that storage conditions pursuant to the ČSN 63 0001 standard are adhered to, it is possible to store sponge rubber for up to 7 years. The storage conditions for sponge rubber are typical for warehouses where sponge rubber is usually kept and relate to air humidity, temperature and pressure.
