Multiple V-ribbed wedge shaped belts
V-ribbed GUFERO® wedge shaped belts also known as multi-groove wedge shaped belts provide a solution for high transmission gear ratios, high speeds of the wedge shaped belt, wedge shaped belt transmission systems with many pulleys, in situations where there are wedge shaped belt pulleys with small sections and where an external tensioning pulley is used. In most cases this type of wedge shaped belt is used as a driving wedge shaped belt in compact drives in home appliances, tools and in the automotive industry. In addition, V-ribbed wedge shaped belts are used in many industrial applications, including heavy machinery. The distinguishing advantages of V-ribbed wedge shaped belts include their high transmitting power, long service life, near vibration-free running, high permitted circumferential speed of up to 60 m/s and their temperature resistance from -30 °C to +80 °C.
If compared directly to raw edge wedge shaped belts, multiple V-ribbed wedge shaped belts have the following advantages:
- high efficiency (approx. 98 %)
- the possibility of application at high revolutions
- a lower run-out of the wedge shaped belt
- a lower noise level
- the possibility to use wedge shaped belt pulleys with very small diameters (up to 18 mm for the PJ section)
- less demanding maintenance
- longer service life
