GUFERO snap hooks are steel eyes used as a reliable safeguard. The snap hook is closed by a spring mechanism which safely secures the snap hook. GUFERO snap hooks are used in a number of applications and industries.
Among the most well-known applications for snap hooks are mountain climbing and yachting but snap hooks can be used nearly everywhere. Snap hooks are used by rescuers and are found in a number of applications involving work at heights. You can use snap hooks every time you need to make a connection or to secure or attach any industrial component which needs to be taken down.
The following is a list of applications where snap hooks are used:
The GUFERO snap hook consists of several sub-components. The main load bearing element of the snap hook is the body, which is coiled round steel. The snap hook is interrupted in one place which contains a catch. The catch allows the snap hook eye to open enabling the load or ropes to be hooked into the snap hook. Some snap hooks, especially snap hooks where a higher level of safeguarding is required, can have a locking piece in the shape of a nut. The locking piece is pulled over the connection between the catch and the remaining part of the snap hook thereby preventing the snap hook opening. To open the snap hoop it is necessary to unscrew the nut again.
This type of snap hook is available in our order system. The manufacture of this type of snap hook is subject to the DIN 5299 standard. The snap hook has an oval shape tapered towards the place where a rope is attached to the snap hook. This type of snap hook is not equipped with a locking nut. It is therefore necessary to exercise great care when handling the snap hook in order to avoid unintentional disconnection. GUFERO eyeless snap hooks are zinc plated, however stainless-steel versions are also supplied for more demanding applications. We can supply snap hooks with round steel diameters of 4 - 12 mm. The available lengths range from 40 - 140 mm.
GUFERO eyed snap hooks are similar to eyeless ones. The main difference between these two types of snap hooks is the added eye which is intended for pulling through a rope. Due to this the snap hook does not rotate when disconnected or reconnected. Unfortunately, this type of snap hook is only available in the zinc plated version. The DIN 5299A standard is applicable to the manufacture of this type of snap hooks. Eyed snap hooks are available in the same dimensions as the eyeless snap hooks.
