These are specific types of snap hooks. Instead of a classic catch, Maillon quick links have a nut in the place where their body is interrupted. To open and release the Maillon quick link it is necessary to turn the nut at least 4 times. This secures the snap hook with a nut from opening spontaneously. The Maillon quick link must be equipped with a clear sign which indicates that the nut is not completely screwed in. The sign must either be a colour sign or a clearly visible thread on the Maillon quick link. Maillon quick links are used mostly in the field where they are not frequently required to be removed, or, where applicable, where it is necessary to provide absolute safety in terms of using the snap hook with a nut. If a Maillon quick link is to be installed in a place where it must be completely secured against opening (e.g. where a path must be safeguarded), it is possible to tighten the Maillon quick link using a key or use suitable adhesive to stick the nut and the thread together. Snap hooks with a nut are available in round steel thicknesses of 3.5 - 12 mm.
